Editor Rating: 4.2/5
Paintball is one of the most exciting sports to play. It’s a fun way getting to shoot people without anything getting hurt. Also, it’s a great cardiovascular activity, especially for those of us who are too busy to go on a run every morning.
The important thing in paintball, as always, is to have the right gear. You can’t do much in paintball without a high quality gun or marker. Is the Tippmann Gryphon Paintball Marker Gun the best in the business? Let’s find out!
The Tippmann Gryphon Paintball Marker is an entry-level paintball gun meant for someone who is new to the sport. It’s a perfectly good gun that’s available for an affordable price, ideally suited to beginners.
Feel and Look
The Tippmamm Gryphon has a design that is reminiscent of the classic Model 98, except that it comes with a top-cocking bolt. It has a solid construction and has a composite body. As of now, it is available in metallic red only. There is a two-finger blade trigger which is easy to use. The Gryphon grip is very comfortable. It has the standard .45 grip and a foregrip just in front of the trigger frame. It has an internal gas line as well, which makes it unique for an entry level paintball gun.
How Good Is It?
The Tippmann Gryphon delivers outstanding performance. It does have a short trigger pull, which is stiff enough to force you to use two fingers to shoot it. The stiffness of the trigger pull should not be a problem. You should be able to fire 9 balls per second quite easily. Now, the Gryphon does give a kick when dry firing, but the kick isn’t quite as bad when you fire paintballs, not enough for you to worry about.
Another special feature of the Gryphon is how well it handles the paint. There are usually no breaks at all in the paint, which is very pleasing indeed. Most people who have tried the Tippmann Gryphon have spoken positively about this.
What about the accuracy? Well, it wasn’t the best you will get, but good enough for an entry level paintball gun. Especially so when you have a barrel that is designed in the way it is, to work with absolutely any paintball brand.
The Tippmann Gryphon is meant for beginners to paintball who use CO2. The consistency with the CO2 tank wasn’t the best you will get. It fluctuates at a rate of 30 fps when you get started, but stabilizes enough to a more manageable rate of 10-15 fps later.
There are no serious drawbacks with the Tippmann Gryphon. But it has to be kept clean and maintained on a regular basis. Also, you cannot take it apart easily, it is too complex for that. It comes with an exterior shell and an interior frame, which shouldn’t be messed with, especially by a beginner. If you have a problem with the gun and it stops working for some reason, do take it to a specialist for repairs.
The Tippmann Gryphon Paintball Marker Gun costs $79.00, which is a reasonable price indeed. In fact, it is one of the cheapest entry-level paintball guns out there.
